Sleep is essential if you wish to improve your memory. As an example imagine you are a student and you’re studying for an exam. Usually students will leave everything for the last moment. This way they will be forced to memorize a lot of things in a short time. To succeed at this you need sleep. Reread your lesson just before you go to sleep.

Reviewing your work just before bed will increase your retention. Try to study within one hour before you go to sleep. This way the information will be fresh and your brain will have time to digest it while you sleep. In the morning you will retain everything about your lesson

Another very good way to improve your memory and train it is by writing. Take a pen and a piece of paper and make a list with all the important things you should remember. Do that at the beginning of each week. If you forget something you can always check your paper. The act of writing creates a mental link between the memory and what is written. After a while you will be able to remember what you wrote without reading the list.

To memorize your lesson you should not have any distractions around you. It’s more important how focused you are than how long you are studying. Keep in mind that you should be alone when you are trying to memorize some new information.

Read loud the text you are trying to study. This is another efficient exercise to help you improve your memory.

Use visual memory! For example if you want to learn a new road try to pay attention at every building you see. When you are studying you should write with a different color the key points of the lesson.

Relate the new information you want to remember to things that you already know. This will help you remember them a lot easier. For example if you wish to learn a new technique for your job all you have to do is to think at other similar techniques you are using.

With a positive attitude and a lot of concentration you can improve your memory. Try to focus on the things you wish to learn. Use all your senses to remember things.
